The Hershey House is one of over 255 Ronald McDonald Houses worldwide. The House
provides comfort, support, and rest for families of seriously ill children in a
compassionate and cozy, home-like environment. Each year the House serves over 1,000 out-of-town families whose children
are patients at Penn State Children’s Hospital. We help keep families together when they need each other the most. Stays
at the Hershey Ronald McDonald House are completely free-of-charge.
Opened
in 1984 by a group of concerned physicians, community members and McDonald’s
Owner/Operators, each night the House provides bedrooms with private baths for
up to 20 families. Guests share a living room, family room, Internet access, a
full kitchen, dining room, toys and playroom, outdoor playground, and laundry
rooms.
Within the House, families who are often under severe stress, receive
caring support from volunteers, and from fellow guests.
